Onekey was born in 2009 from the need to simplify firefighter’s workload due to the increasing array of single use tools that were being carried on fire appliances for hose and hydrant operations. We wanted to remove the need for fire fighters to spend their time and energy on tool selection, when already under pressure.

Testing was undertaken by experienced firefighters and feedback was then translated into design changes until Onekey was perfectly fit for purpose.

In 2020 “Onekey Sidearm” was released as a personal pocket variant to be carried by the firefighters and designed to compliment rather than replace the full sized Onekey. This once again took input, months of testing and feedback from fire fighters from both volunteer and career fire services.

Some features that rely on leverage such as the 125mm Storz were removed, but have been replaced with additional abilities such as a door hinge stop, gas valve control, operation of Millcocks that are missing hand wheels and foam drum cap opening. These uses being more suited to an individual firefighter’s specific role.

Development in design, material and production will continue, endeavouring to make fire fighter’s job easier.

In most cases, all single use hose and hydrant tools have been removed from fire appliances and replaced only with Onekey.

In 2012 we were awarded the RACV Victorian Fire Awareness Award – Industry Category for the Onekey. Shortly thereafter it became the standard hose and hydrant spanner on all new Country Fire Authority Victoria and Forest Fire Management Victoria appliances. It is also the standard replacement tool supplied by their stores.

Further development has seen the design modified to suit other state and industry fire and plumbing services.

Over 5000 Onekeys have entered service around Australia to date.
